Why You'll Love This Recipe:
Flavorful: The combination of hot honey adds an irresistible sweet and spicy flavor that pairs perfectly with the crispy chicken.
Healthy: Using organic & gluten-free ingredients and cooking in the air fryer keeps this dish nutritious without sacrificing taste.
Easy to Make: Perfect for busy weeknights, these tenders come together quickly and are a hit with both kids and adults.
Remove the tendons from the chicken tenders with a fork and pat dry. Set aside.
Add cornflakes to a resealable plastic bag, and crush them with a rolling pin. Alternately, you can add the cornflakes to a food processor and pulse.
Line up 2 shallow bowls. In one of the bowls, add the egg and splash of water. Whisk together the egg mixture until smooth. In the second bowl, add the crushed cornflakes and all of the seasonings. Stir to combine.
Preheat your air fryer to 400°F. Add the chicken tenders, one at a time, to the egg mixture, turning to coat all sides, and then in the cornflake crumbs.
Spritz the chicken with avocado oil spray and air fry for 10-15 minutes, or until cooked through. Chicken tenders should be golden brown and have reached an internal temperature of 165°F. The timing can vary with different air fryers and how thick your chicken tenders are.
While chicken is cooking, warm up your hot honey over the stove or in the microwave. Drizzle chicken tenders with the hot honey to taste. Serve and enjoy!
Air frying is a game-changer when it comes to healthy cooking. It uses significantly less oil than traditional frying methods, resulting in lower calories and fat. Plus, the air fryer delivers that satisfying crunch we all love, making it ideal for chicken tenders. You get the crispy texture without all the extra grease! Now you can bake these too of course in the oven, but nothing beats that air fryer crisp in my opinion!
Heat up the honey in a small saucepan over medium heat until it starts to bubble. Add in the hot sauce and red pepper flakes to taste. Allow to cool.
Strain out the red pepper flakes. Store in a glass jar.
