Ingredients

For the Donuts:

  • Donut mold/pan - For 6 standard sized donuts. I used this silicone mold off of Amazon.
  • Protein Pancake Mix- This is my secret ingredient and makes these so easy to make! You need 2/3 cup of your favorite protein pancake mix. A chocolate flavored one is ideal, but you can use a plain one too. I have linked my favorite protein pancake mixes below with some discount codes!
  • Unsweetened Cocoa Powder - 2 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder.
  • Unsweetened Almond Milk - 1/2 cup of unsweetened vanilla almond milk.
  • Swerve - 1 tablespoon of granulated Swerve. Swerve is my go-to when it comes to sugar substitutes. If you are not familiar with Swerve, it is a zero-calorie, low-glycemic sweetener that measures cup-for-cup to sugar. It’s completely save and natural, with no artificial ingredients, preservatives or flavors. It is safe for diabetics and Keto approved. You can purchase Swerve off of Amazon here.
  • Greek Yogurt - I love using Greek yogurt as a butter/oil replacement. You will need 3 tablespoons of plain, nonfat Greek yogurt.
  • Egg - 1 large egg
  • Baking Powder - There is some in the pancake mix but I add 1/2 a teaspoon to make my donuts extra fluffy!

For the Frosting:

  • Cream Cheese - 2 tablespoons softened low fat cream cheese
  • Chocolate Protein Powder - 30 grams of your favorite chocolate protein powder. I used the Prozis Zero Double Chocolate Whey Protein Powder. If you want to try Prozis, you can use the code "KATIE10" for 10% off!
  • Unsweetened Almond Milk - As needed until you have your desired frosting consistency. I needed 2 teaspoons.

How To Store Leftovers

Store leftovers in an air tight container in the fridge for up to 4 days. Let them sit out at room temperature for about 10 minutes so they aren't too cold when you are ready to eat them again!

My Favorite Protein Pancake Mixes & Why

I know a lot of people just go to their local grocery store and pick up a mix such as Kodiak Cakes. Yes, Kodiak Cakes only have 14 grams of protein in them and 3 grams of added sugar. I am not hating on them by any means (they taste great), but I just think there are healthier, higher protein options out there. Here are my favorite mixes and why:

  1. Prozis Zero Instant Pancake Mix - These have no sugar, low fat, and high protein. They also have so many fun flavors such as vanilla, milk chocolate, cookies & cream, chocolate brownie, and white chocolate! The chocolate brownie & milk chocolate both work great in this recipe. I do have a 10% off discount code if you decide to check them out and it's "KATIE10". There are 26 grams of protein per serving. Prozis also makes other lines of protein pancake mixes such as an protein oat pancakes and collagen pancakes.
  2. Flourish Pancakes Protein Pancake Mix - Flourish Pancakes makes plant based protein pancake mixes. I love these because they have no added sugar, and are full of fiber! They are non-GMO verified and each serving has 24 grams of protein. They have some fun flavors as well (not as many as Prozis but still a lot!) such as buttermilk, chocolate, vanilla, chocolate chip, and birthday cake. They have accommodated to a lot of different diets and even have gluten free and keto mixes! You can also use the code "KATIE10" for 10% off at Flourish Pancakes.
