Low Carb Mozzarella Sticks

low carb mozzarella sticks

I have mastered the most delicious mozzarella sticks. They taste better than the classic fried ones too! These mozzarella sticks only require 4 ingredients, have less than 1 gram of carbs each, and are packed with protein! My secret ingredient = Whisps cheese crumbs. Whisps is one of my favorite companies and they have truly changed the game with their cheese crumbs, making it so easy to turn anything breaded low carb!

I hope you give this recipe a try and love it as much as I do! Try my Low Carb Air Fryer Buffalo Chicken Bites as well, which use the buffalo flavor of the Whisps cheese crumbs!

How To Store Leftovers

You can store your leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. I do recommend reheating these in the oven or air fryer though rather than the microwave because they will lose their crispiness! They are best when fresh though!

What If Whisps Are Not Available Where I am?

If you are unable to purchase Whisps cheese crumbs for any reason (I know in certain countries it can be too expensive to have shipped) I have al alternative for you! You can combine some very fine almond flour with shredded parmesan cheese (or your favorite kind of cheese) and get a very similar outcome. Of course if you are not on a low carb diet, you could always use traditional bread crumbs as well.

No Air Fryer?

Don't have an air fryer? That's okay!! Do I think you should get one? Definetely. The air fryer I use is the Ninja Foodie 10-In-One Deluxe 8 Qt. Pressure Cooker/Air Fryer Combo. I love this one because it's huge, easy to use, and can be both a pressure cooker and air fryer. This saves so much space! But anyways, back to my point. You can cook these in the oven at 400°F for 10-12 minutes.

Cooking Tip

If you have the extra time, I'd recommend putting your mozzarella sticks in the freezer for 10 minutes to make them more firm, which will help prevent any cheese from melting out of your mozzarella sticks. Just don't forget about them in the freezer though (unless you are trying to freeze them to make in advance) haha!

Can I Freeze These?

Yes! In fact, it's probably better if you have any leftovers to store them in the freezer so they hold their shape and don't get soggy. Heat them up in your air fryer or oven when you are ready to enjoy them again! I would heat them up at 350°F for 5 minutes or so. If you are making these in advance to cook later, don't cook them and just place them directly in the freezer.
