The Best Guacamole

guacamole

This is my favorite way to make guacamole! I know it may be tempting at the grocery store to just buy one that is already made, but I promise you this recipe will get you out of that habit real fast! Plus, store bought guacamole often has lots of preservatives and nastiness and you don't want that!! This guacamole has the perfect mix of veggies, flavor, and spice. You can obviously customize this guacamole to your liking in terms of spiciness & avocado to veggie ratio, but there is one thing that you should NOT skip and that is the lemon zest! Adding fresh lemon zest really brings out all of the flavors in guacamole and is so refreshing. I add a lot, but at least try a little bit and let me know what you think!

Reasons to Love This Salsa

  • Quick & Easy: Just chop, toss, and enjoy!
  • Nutritious: This salsa is full of fresh veggies and no preservatives! The entire bowl of salsa is only 165 calories.

Ingredients

  • Avocados - Easy guess right? You will need 4 large haas avocados, or 5-6 medium sized.
  • Jalapeno - 2 jalapeño, most of seeds and membrane removed & diced. I kept some seeds for a little bit of heat but adjust to your liking.
  • Roma Tomato - 1 roma tomato, diced finely.
  • Cilantro - 1 large handful of cilantro (about 1/3 cup), chopped.
  • Red Onion - 1/4 red onion, finely diced.
  • Garlic - 1 teaspoon of garlic, minced
  • Lime Juice - Juice of 2 limes
  • Lemon Zest - Zest of 2 lemons. Please don't skip this, it's the best part!!
  • Sea Salt - to taste.
  • Garlic powder - to taste (about 1/2 teaspoon)

How To Store Leftovers

You can store your leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week. A tip to keep your guacamole green is to place plastic wrap directly on top of the guacamole in a Tupperware and press it down firmly. Then place the Tupperware lid on top! You can also put some lemon or lime juice on top before placing the plastic wrap down on your guacamole for extra freshness!

My favorite storage containers are by the brand Razab. I have done some fun giveaways with them in the past and truly love their dishes so much. All of their containers are BPA free, oven safe, freezer safe, dishwasher save, and have steam release valves! You can find them on Amazon here if you want to check them out.
