Veggie Sandwich Rules
- You must toast your bagels. Toasting helps the sandwich hold up to all the inherently watery veggies we are stuffing it with.
- Fresh herbs are best. I have dry herb subs listed if you can’t get fresh, but I promise, it’s worth it.
- Don’t buy a crap tomato. If your tomato sucks, your sandwich sucks.
- Seasoning your tomatoes is key to enhancing the flavors.
Dietary Information
This sandwich is vegetarian and can easily be adapted for different dietary needs.
To make it gluten free, simply use your favorite gluten free bagels. For a dairy free version, swap the cream cheese, yogurt, and Havarti for plant based alternatives. The low-carb bagels also make this a great option for those watching carbohydrates while still wanting a hearty and satisfying lunch.
Tips or Variations
- Add sprouts for extra crunch and freshness.
- Thinly sliced red onion adds a delicious bite.
- Want extra protein? Add sliced hard boiled eggs or turkey.
- The herb spread can be made up to 3 days ahead and stored in the refrigerator.
- Try everything bagels for even more flavor.
