Ingredients

  • Jasmine Rice -1/2 cup of dry jasmine rice, or rice of choice.
  • Orzo – 1/2 cup dry orzo.
  • Butter – 1 1/2 tablespoons of butter or extra virgin olive oil.
  • Yellow Onion – 1/2 small yellow or white onion, diced.
  • Chicken Broth – 2 cups of Kettle & Fire Chicken Broth, or chicken broth of choice. This is the healthiest option I have found!
  • Dan-O’s Seasoning – 1/2 teaspoon of Dan-O’s Original Seasoning, or all purpose seasoning of choice. I like this one because it is low sodium and zero calories! Use the code COOKINGKATIE for 10% off on their website!

Equipment you will need:

Large Skillet or Wok – I used my 14″ HexClad wok to make this dish! I use this wok for literally everything, even if I am not making that much food haha! I do double this recipe when I am making it. You can also use a medium saucepan.

How To Make It

  1. In a large deep skillet or medium saucepan, melt the butter.
  2. Add in the orzo & jasmine rice. Sauté until golden brown.
  3. Add the onion & garlic. Cook until transparent.
  4. Pour in the chicken broth, bring to a boil and then simmer, covered, for 15-20 minutes.
  5. Turn off the heat, fluff it up, and enjoy!

How To Serve

Serve this dip with your favorite Mexican dishes, such as tacos, enchiladas, etc.! I have lot of Mexican inspired recipes that would go great with this rice!
