Grilled Greek Chicken Pitas

greek chicken pitas pinit

These Grilled Greek Chicken Pitas are so healthy and refreshing! The chicken is perfectly seasoned and can be grilled up in no time! I filled my pitas with the chicken, my homemade tzatziki sauce, hummus, arugula, red onion, tomato, and feta cheese. The variations of fillings you can put in these is endless!

I often make these for my lunches because they are so easy to assemble! I just put my chicken in a separate container to heat it up later and then my pita and other toppings in another.

Reasons to Love These Pitas

  • Prep Ahead of Time: You can easily cook the chicken and prep your pitas & fillings for the next few days to enjoy!
  • Quick & Easy: These are so quick to throw together and you can mix and match the fillings with whatever ingredients you have on hand!
  • Macros: The chicken is very low calorie, high protein, and low carb! There are only 192 calories for 4 ounces of chicken and 35 grams of protein!

Nutritional Benefits

  • Chicken: Chicken is low in calories and high in protein! It is a good source of Vitamin B12 and choline, which is essential for brain development and function. It can help with weight management and decrease your chance of heart disease.
  • Feta Cheese: If you decide to add feta cheese in your bowls (highly recommend), feta contains lots of calcium and probiotics (bone & gut health!).
  • Tzatziki Sauce: My homemade tzatziki sauce is full of protein, probiotics and is extremely hydrating thanks to the cucumbers!

Ingredients

  • Chicken – 1 1/2 pounds of boneless, skinless chicken breasts or your favorite type of chicken, cut into bite sized pieces
  • Mediterranean Seasoning – 1 tablespoon of all purpose Mediterranean Seasoning – I used Za’atar Seasoning.
  • Lemon Pepper – 1 teaspoon, or to taste.
  • Garlic Salt – 1/2 teaspoon.
  • Garlic Powder – 1/2 teaspoon.
  • Onion Powder – 1/2 teaspoon.
  • Olive Oil – A drizzle of extra virgin olive oil to cook your chicken.
  • Pita bread – I used the Joseph’s flax, oat bran, & whole wheat pita bread – These are only 60 calories each with 6 grams of protein! You can find it on Amazon here!

How To Store Leftovers

You can store your leftovers that in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Keep your chicken separate from your pita bread & cold ingredients for reheating purposes! I use a meal prep container with multiple slots to keep everything fresh such as these. When you are ready to enjoy a Greek pita again, warm up the chicken in the microwave for 30-45 seconds or so.
