Pimento cheese, a beloved Southern classic, is making a resurgence in kitchens everywhere. Known for its creamy texture and tangy flavor, this versatile spread can be enjoyed in countless ways – from sandwiches to dips and even as a topping for burgers. While traditional recipes often lean heavy on mayonnaise and cream cheese, I’ve crafted a healthier version that doesn’t compromise on taste & gives you a guilt-free indulgence.
This homemade pimento cheese recipe is a great dish to bring to a pot luck or any sort of gathering as an appetizer. I can assure you that there will be no leftovers if you make this! Be sure to try my Avocado & Feta Dip as well!

What You Will Need
- 1 cup organic, THICK Greek yogurt. Make sure it is thick or your dip will be watery. You can also use mayo (I like Primal Kitchen), but Greek yogurt is definitely going to keep this on the lighter side. You could also do half and half!
- 1 1/2 cups organic, freshly grated sharp cheddar cheese.
- 4 oz. jar of pimento peppers, drained and finely chopped.
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 jalapeno, finely chopped. Or more if you like spice!!

Instructions
- Combine all ingredients in a small mixing bowl or serving dish. Mix thoroughly.
- Chill in the fridge for 30 minutes for the flavors to settle in. Enjoy!
Serving Suggestions:
- Sandwiches: Spread on whole grain bread with crisp lettuce and tomato slices for a satisfying lunch.
- Dips: Serve with whole grain crackers, chips, or fresh vegetables (such as celery sticks or bell peppers) for a delicious snack or appetizer.
- Burgers: Use as a topping for grilled burgers to add a creamy, tangy twist.
