The Health Benefits of Brussels Sprouts

Brussels sprouts are not only delicious, but they’re also packed with a variety of health benefits. These tiny cruciferous vegetables are loaded with essential vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that support overall well-being. High in vitamin C, they help boost the immune system and promote healthy skin. Brussels sprouts are also a great source of fiber, which aids in digestion and helps maintain a healthy gut.

Additionally, Brussels sprouts are rich in vitamin K, which plays a crucial role in bone health and blood clotting. They are also high in folate, making them an excellent choice for pregnant women or anyone looking to improve their overall health. The antioxidants found in Brussels sprouts, such as kaempferol, help fight oxidative stress and reduce inflammation, contributing to better heart health and a reduced risk of chronic diseases.

How To Make Them

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F. Line a medium sized baking sheet with foil and set aside.
  2. Trim and half your brussels sprouts. Line on your prepared baking sheet and coat evenly in the olive oil and salt and pepper to taste. Bake for 30 minutes.

  4. Allow the glaze to bubble up for a little bit and then simmer for 5 to 7 minutes, or until thickened. Remove the brussels sprouts from the oven.

How To Store Leftovers

You can store your leftover brussels in an air tight container in the fridge for up to 4 days. When you are ready to enjoy your leftovers, you can pop them in the microwave for a minute or so. However, if you want them to be more crispy, you can reheat them in the oven or air fryer at a low heat for about 10 minutes if you have the time!

My favorite food storage containers are by the brand Razab. I do giveaways with them and truly love their products so much. All of their containers are BPA free, oven safe, freezer safe, dishwasher save, and have steam release valves! You can find them on Amazon here.
