Jalapeno Cheddar Turkey Burgers

These Jalapeno Cheddar Turkey Burgers are a healthy spin on your typical burger using ground turkey, jalapenos, cilantro, and the perfect blend of seasonings. They are spicy, cheesy, and so easy to make! They are naturally low in calories and carbs. There are only 223 calories per burger and 27 grams of protein! Ingredients

  • Ground Turkey- I used 2 1/2 pounds of 93% lean ground turkey. My favorite kind is by the brand Butterball.
  • Egg – 1 large egg to prevent the burgers from breaking apart.
  • Jalapenos – 2 jalapeños, diced finely and most of the seeds removed (depends on your spice level).
  • Cilantro – 1/4 cup of chopped cilantro.
  • Red Onion – 1/2 of a medium red onion, diced.
  • Garlic Salt & Garlic Powder – 1 teaspoon of each.
  • Smoked Paprika – 2 teaspoons, or to taste.
  • Pepper – 1/2 teaspoon, or to taste.
  • Cheddar Cheese – 1/2 cup of shredded cheddar cheese.

Optional Toppings

  • Lettuce
  • Tomato
  • Red onions
  • Guacamole (If you don’t top your burgers off with guacamole you are missing out just saying!)
  • Lime juice
  • Cilantro
  • Spicy mayo
  • Gouda cheese

How To Make Them

  1. In a large bowl, combine all of the ingredients thoroughly.
  2. Form nine evenly sized turkey patties (4.4 oz. in size each). Line the patties on a foil lined baking sheet. Place in the freezer for 5 to 10 minutes so they can firm up. This prevents them from breaking apart on your grill.
  3. Preheat your grill (or grilling pan – I use a grilling pan by Anolon that I LOVE!) to a medium/high heat.
  4. Cook the patties for about 5-6 minutes per side, or until the turkey is fully cooked and no longer pink and the turkey has reached an internal temperature of 165°F.
  5. Melt a piece of Gouda cheese on top if desired. Serve with guacamole, lime juice, sliced onions, etc.! A full list of optional add ins/toppings are below.

How To Store Leftovers

You can store your leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. You can freeze these as well for up to a month! To freeze them, wrap each patty individually in foil and place in an air tight container or plastic bag.
