Reasons to Love These

  • Quick & Easy: This super and easy to make and requires very simple ingredients and equipment. I love me some one pan meals!
  • Macros/Nutritious: Turkey is a very lean meat and a healthier substitution for ground beef. It is relatively low in calories and high in protein! Feel free to use beef if you want that more classic taste.

Nutritional Benefits

  • Turkey: Ground turkey is rich in protein, vitamin B, and other minerals, such as zinc.
  • Bell Peppers: Bell Peppers are an excellent source of Vitamin C. They also contain fiber and antioxidant properties.

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 lbs. 90% lean ground turkey
  • 1/2 yellow onion, diced
  • 2 green bell peppers, diced
  • 3 tsp garlic, minced
  • 2 cups organic beef bone broth -Use the code COOKINGKATIELADY for 20% off at Kettle & Fire! The best broth ever for real.

  • 4 tbsp ketchup
  • 4 tbsp Worcestershire
  • 2 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 2 tsp oregano
  • 2 tsp parsley
  • 1 tsp basil & paprika

How To Make Them

  1. Heat olive oil in a wok/large skillet (I used my HexClad 14″ Wok) over medium-high heat.
  2. Add onions, bell peppers, and turkey. Cook until turkey is browned. Drain excess liquid.
  3. Add garlic, and sauté another 30 seconds.
  4. Add the seasonings, ketchup, Worcestershire, & Dijon mustard.
  5. Pour in the bone broth. Add in the slurry & gently simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until most of the liquid has been absorbed, but the mixture is still a little saucy.
  6. Add the cheddar cheese & allow to melt. Season with salt, pepper, red pepper flakes to taste.
  7. Divide mixture between 8 toasted buns and top each with a slice of provolone cheese.

How To Store Leftovers

You can store your leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. When you are ready to enjoy them again, just pop them in the microwave for a minute. Toast buns in the oven and place filling inside after warmed up.
