Making barbeque sauce from scratch avoids all of those crazy ingredients such as added sugar, gums, inflammatory oils, and fake flavorings/colors. Ingredients
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 yellow onion, minced
- 2 heaping tsp minced garlic
- 2 cups organic unsweetened ketchup – I like Primal Kitchen
- 2 tbsp organic apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 cup water
- 3 tbsp organic maple syrup
- 1/8 cup of monk fruit (or sweetener of choice)
- 2 tsp dried mustard
- 3/4 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp @danosseasoning chipotle seasoning – Code COOKINGKATIE for a discount
- 2 tsp of chili powder
- 2 tsp of Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and Pepper, to taste
Instructions
- In a large saucepan, heat up a drizzle of olive oil over medium/high heat.
- Add the minced onion and garlic. Sauté for about 2 minutes.
- Add the rest of the ingredients for your sauce. Let it bubble up and then reduce the heat to simmer.
- Allow to simmer for 30 minutes, stirring half way through.
- Serve with your favorite dish or mix into 2 lbs protein of choice (like shredded chicken).
How To Store Leftovers
You can store your leftovers the refrigerator for up to two weeks, if it even lasts you that long haha!
